Sealight in North America

Seawinkle was one of the first adult sea ponies, and she was sold definitely in North America. She was not sold in the UK, although her name appeared in very early UK story books (this seems to have been an error as the ponies pictured were UK release Sea Ponies). She was sold with a green clam seashell stand, which was exclusive to the North American release. A different shade of green shell would be sold the next year with Wave Jumper, although they are distinct enough to not be confused..

Sealight's Character

Seawinkle appeared as one of the lead Sea Ponies in Rescue at Midnight Castle, helping to save Applejack and Megan from drowning. Unlike in the UK, the US set also had backcard stories. Her story includes an adventure swimming with Mr Dolphin, which is a scenario also associated with Surfdancer in the UK. Given the use of the US names in early stories, it is possible that all of the character information from the US ponies were given to storywriters in the UK, including the names - but the ultimate ponies sold turned out to be different.
