Applejack in the United Kingdom

Applejack was one of the more well known early characters in the My Little Pony comics and stories here in the United Kingdom, and has remained a classic character almost ever since. She was introduced in North America and the UK in 1984 as part of the Earth Pony set. A version of Applejack was sold again in 1985, this time in a different pose.

This set retailed at between £3 and £3.50.

Applejack's Character

Applejack had a very distinctive character in both the UK and in North American media. In Rescue at Midnight Castle, her clumsiness leads to her being rescued, along with Megan, by the Sea Ponies. In the comic, she was well-meaning, but apple obsessed and a bit clumsy. She is rather notorious for having stumbled on and accidentally rescued the enslaved Twinkle Eye Ponies in issue 11 of the pony comic, a story that has been taken wildly out of context by people from later generations. Applejack is the inspiration for the G4 iteration, although she bears no character resemblance whatsoever. Applejack was featured on the Song Disc/Song Tape with her own song, which characterised her as clumsy, silly and always dreaming about apples. She was also depicted as being particularly close to Bow-Tie.
