Seawinkle in North America

Seawinkle was one of the first adult sea ponies, and she was sold definitely in North America. She was not sold in the UK, although her name appeared in very early UK story books (this seems to have been an error as the ponies pictured were UK release Sea Ponies). She was sold with a pink clam seashell stand.

Seawinkle's blue body is very similar to Surfdancer's, although they have different hair colour and are distinct ponies.

Seawinkle's Character

Seawinkle appeared as one of the lead Sea Ponies in Rescue at Midnight Castle, helping to save Applejack and Megan from drowning. Unlike in the UK, the US set also had backcard stories. Curiously, Seawinkle is described as having a little sailboat, and being friends with Seashell. The sailboat was a key part of Seaspray's character in the UK, suggesting the UK story writers borrowed ideas from the US stories to give personality to their UK characters in the absence of any Hasbro UK inspiration. Given the use of the US names in early stories, it is possible that all of the character information from the US ponies were given to storywriters in the UK, including the names - but the ultimate ponies sold turned out to be different.
