Baby Toe Dancer

Baby Toe Dancer was one of four Ballerina Baby Ponies, who were first released in North America in 1991. The set was released in the UK and across much of Europe in 1992. As with all of the set, Baby Toe Dancer was poseable - her legs and her head could all be moved to put her into different dance poses. The pose was based on Baby Blossom, but now had a moulded leotard and moulded ballet shoes on each foot, with painted bows. Toe Dancer did not have a symbol.

In Europe, cards and names were translated into various languages depending on the release location. Her English name in the UK was the same as in the North American release, albeit with a slight formatting difference - in America, the names were all one word, whereas in the UK, they were divided into two. Toe Dancer was the 'poster pony' for the set, and appeared on the front and back of all Baby Ballerina cards.

Baby Toe Dancer came with a comb and ribbon in the UK release, while she came with just a brush in North America. Her hair was styled curly.

Baby Toe Dancer's Character

As might be expected, the Ballerina babies appeared in the pony comic in conjunction with stories about music and dancing. They would sometimes appear with the Rockin' Beats - a set contemporary with theirs - and their backcard stories all focus on them finding ways to get their dance steps correctly. In North America, the set had a collective story, but in the UK, each individual baby had a different story, and thus a different nuance in how she learned her steps. These techniques were tied in with the name of the pony, as can be seen below.
