Medley was sold twice in the North American pony
release. She was first issued in 1984, as one of the very first
pegasus ponies, and then rereleased in 1985 with the updated
version of the same set. This time she had curly hair.
The original version of Medley came with a shooting star brush,
matching ribbon and puffy sticker. She was the only pony from
the original unicorn and pegasus set whose theme was not space
or weather related, but her personality and skillset (see below)
covered this gap.
(1984, United States)
Medley was depicted on her card with straight hair. This would be updated the next year.

Medley also had some diverse releases in other places,
including a white/cream version with blue hair in Peru (and a
matching baby) and a yellow version in Greece.
Medley appeared as a supporting character in the original pony
special, Rescue at Midnight Castle, but her personality was
largely overshadowed by Firefly's antics. In the comics, Medley
and Firefly did interact - with Firefly usually doing daft
things, and Medley sometimes needing to rescue her.

Firefly ignoring Medley's Advice...
(My Little Pony Comic, UK)
Medley was smart, pretty sensible, and talented. She was known
for being able to create music - sometimes literally and
sometimes with magic. Different versions of her biography
mention her being able to create thunder by drumming her hooves
on the clouds, and that when she waved her tail, pretty harp
music appeared.
