Skyflier was one of the new characters introduced
into the North American unicorn and pegasus line in 1985. She
also debuted one of the new poses for the year, along with her
set-mate, Powder.

Traditional accounts of Skyflier report that she has a white
streak in her mane, and she is most often illustrated this way
as well. That ought to be case closed, but as you can see from
my loose one, above, the streak is not always white. In fact, my
MOC one (shown above) also has a pale pink streak beneath the
bubble. Whether Skyflier's streak is meant to be white, and gets
coloured by proximity to the red mane, or whether it was always
intended to be fading pink and just fades really commonly, I
don't know. The jury is still out on this one.

Skyflier was one of the early unicorn pony characters who was
not given a specific magic power in the UK lore. She was a kite
flier, which seems obvious, and she did appear in the comic with
her kites from time to time.

Her Fact File entry notes that she likes to spend time building
and flying kites, as well as decorating them with ribbons. This
seems to have been a summary of her backcard entry, which also
detailed her working with kites (both in North America and in
the Scandinavian Fable release). None of these stories mention
Skyflier having any form of magic, either. The Fable version of
Skyflier's story was basically the same as the North American
one, but abridged to fit the smaller space on the card (as shown
below).
