Bow-Tie in the United Kingdom

Bow Tie was one of the more well known early characters in the My Little Pony comics and stories here in the United Kingdom. She was introduced in North America and the UK in 1984 as part of the Earth Pony set. A version of Bow-Tie was sold again in 1985, this time in a different pose.

Bow Tie's body colour in the original release is often a darker blue than in later releases. Some are particularly dark blue in colour.

This set retailed at between £3 and £3.50.

Bow Tie appeared on quite a lot of merchandise around this time. She was a plush pony and also a Pyjama Case, which was made by Telitoy and issued exclusively here in the UK.

Bow-Tie's Character

In the special, Rescue at Midnight Castle, Bow-Tie, while prettily adorned with yellow mane ribbons, shows herself more as a practical type, and an expert jumper, being able to leap quite high to grab the Rainbow of Darkness. In the UK, she had more of an association with ribbons and bows. In the Song Disc, she helped Applejack to cushion the fall of a large apple by spreading her ribbons on the ground. She was a kind-hearted pony with common-sense.
