Bubbles in the United Kingdom

Bubbles was only ever sold as part of this set, and was one of only two mainstream release ponies made in the sitting pose (the other, Seashell, also belonged to this set). One of the reasons that this pose was likely not reused after this year may have been the difficulty in dressing sitting ponies in what was becoming increasingly complicated PonyWear. The rear legs were moulded to the rear of the pony, making it impossible for her to wear shoes.

Bubbles is also one of only two ponies to have a nose blaze, the other, again, being her fellow sitting pony, Seashell. While freckles were reused over several sets, blazes did not seem to take off and were not used again in the design process.

Bubbles was sold worldwide, and in some versions made in other places she had freckles instead of a blaze.

This pose is either loved or hated by collectors, depending on their personal preferences. (Me, I don't really like it.)

This set retailed at between £3 and £3.50.

Bubbles's Character

Bubbles was a messy pony who delighted in playing in the mud and getting herself all mucky. She would then visit the Waterfall and wash herself clean in the bubbles. This meant that she had a rapport with Sprinkles and Duck Soup, who lived at the Waterfall.

On one odd occasion, however, Bubbles found herself in a world of mud monsters (or dinosaurs, as we usually call them) along with Baby Cotton Candy. This was too much mud even for her - so she vanquished the monsters by using her stash of bubble bath. If only they had known about that hack in Jurassic Park.
