This Concave Foot version of
Cotton Candy was part of the first UK earth pony set to be
promoted in the United Kingdom. She was well sold and became one
of the favourite characters of the early G1 pony line. A good
amount of merchandise featuring Cotton Candy exists, including a
plush pony and a pyjama case (this latter sold only in the
United Kingdom).

Cotton Candy continued to be featured long
after 1984, on inserts and in stories. It is probable that she,
along with her set, remained in stores through 1985, even though
they were not officially promoted this year.
Cotton Candy had one of the more distinctive characters in the
early UK stories, although these attributes all applied to the
concave foot version definitively available by 1984. The North
American backcard featured her eating flowers belonging to her
friend Blossom, and this sweet
tooth for petals also manifested in UK stories.
She also had another responsibility, however - as the first Ponyland 'nurse' character. Cotton Candy's responsibilities were mostly medical, although when she handed the job over to Gusty in around 1987, it would also include babysitting responsibilities. This characterisation is unique to the UK comic.
