Clipper

Clipper was the second baby boy pony sold through mail order in this pose, after Baby Lucky in 1986-7. He was never sold in the UK.

He was featured on the same flier as the Sparkle Ponies, with a little story in which he was apparently sailing off to Glitter Island to find them. His white mane was intentionally shorter to make him more 'masculine' (a trait abandoned with later baby boys and never used for adult boys). He cost $3.50 and one horseshoe point.

Clipper was also offered as a Mail Order release in Canada in 1989-90 (though whether he was previously offered in 1988, or whether the US offer continued beyond 1988, I am not sure). This insert was in French and English and also quoted a $3.50 price plus one horseshoe point, but presumably in CAD. His French Canadian name was "Marin", and the blurb advertising him also mentioned him finding the Sparkle ponies, although they are not referenced here by name, simply by description.
