Satin & Lace, three times a bride

Satin & Lace was first issued through mail order in 1986. In this release, she was advertised as a bride, but there was no projected groom pony. Like Wedding Bells Confetti, who seems to have taken up her mantle in the UK and across Europe, she seemed destined to be doomed at the altar.
It was not until the third release of Satin & Lace that she was offered with a groom pony, known originally as Coat n Tails, than later as Tux n Tails.

Satin & Lace's original release did also include an offer for Baby Lucky, as her wedding page boy. Well, at least she wouldn't be completely alone on her big day.

Satin & Lace was never sold in stores and was never sold in the UK.

Which Satin is Which? Part II

Satin & Lace had three releases - so-soft, magenta and lavender. The second of these releases was the magenta version, who was first offered on the insert alongside the Sparkle Ponies in 1988. Her appearance on this leaflet was suspiciously pale and collector-poseish - leading collectors to wonder she was in fact being represented by a dressed up Cotton Candy!

The actual pony was in the same pose as the original So Soft, and was probably created using the same base, only without flocking. As Hasbro moved on from So Soft Ponies to other gimmicks, it is likely that the flocking process was discontinued in factories. But, Hasbro either had some bases left over, or saw a purpose in continuing production - thus resulting in this magenta version of Satin and Lace.

At present, I am not aware of her release continuing beyond 1988. In 1989 and beyond, she was replaced with the lavender regular version, which remains the most common version.
