Baby Cotton Candy in the United Kingdom

Baby Cotton Candy was sold in the UK in 1985, as part of a set which Hasbro called "Play and Care Set" babies. This set featured three earth pony babies based on existing adults already on sale in the United Kingdom. Baby Cotton Candy was also sold as part of the set in North America, featuring six baby ponies. The name "Play and Care Set" was not used here, but the accessories between releases were the same.

Although she featured on the 1985 insert, the style of artwork that featured on Baby Cotton Candy's box was similar to that used on the packaging for the Rainbow Ponies and first set of Play and Care Baby Ponies, suggesting she might have been a late 1984/early 1985 release.

These were the first proper baby pony set in the UK, and they were all sold with several accessories to help their new 'mother' take care of them.

Baby Cotton Candy in Other Places

Baby Cotton Candy is known to have been sold in France, in a box translated into French. She also saw a release in Scandinavian countries and probably Finland. She was sold in the Netherlands and Benelux countries in American packaging, sometimes translated, and also on card in some other places, with minimal accessories (including Germany and also Scandinavian countries). She was sold worldwide between around 1984 and 1986, in various different ways.

She also featured in a set in 1987, sold in German speaking countries, alongside a completely new array of babies which did not see a widespread release. Here she was sold with a green topped baby bottle and yellow-gold ribbon.

Baby Cotton Candy's Character

Mother Cotton Candy spent a lot of her time eating flowers, whilst Baby Cotton Candy spent more time with the other baby ponies. She loved to play hide and seek with her friends, and taking naps in the nursery - or waking up her friends when they were trying to nap!

She appeared in Escape from Catrina, as one of Baby Glory's friends determined not to take a nap.
