Baby Blümchen (Baby Buttons)

Baby Blümchen was sold in German speaking countries in around 1988. She was never sold outside this region, making her especially sought after (although she does not seem to be uncommon in those areas). She was sold with a bottle and a ribbon, but no other accessories. The necklace shown in the picture above is not hers (I just like giving my baby ponies necklaces). She is based on the adult pony Buttons, and follows the Movie Star version with small pink buttons and stars for her symbol. Her name choice is unusual, however, as Blümchen is the German name for Posey, and not Buttons. In other ways, she is a perfect mini-version of her mother.

When Baby Blümchen was first talked about online, there was a lot of confusion about her release area, and she was listed as a UK baby, but she was definitely not available over here (sadly). Although she is generally called a 'German' baby, she was definitely also sold in Austria.

Baby Blümchen's Character

German is not my best language skill, and I have never seen Baby Blümchen's backcard, so I am really not sure about her story or her personality. One clue, however, may lie in the promotional German booklet, which includes the following highlighted paragraph:

Baby Blümchen's story?
Baby Blümchen's story?
German promotional booklet, 1988

If I am reading it correctly, the story describes her as a small unicorn, who roams the beach collecting shells to make into jewellery for her friends, and obtains sparkle from the stars?. This is also in keeping with adult Buttons's character story as well. If anyone would like to translate this story properly for me, please get in touch.
