Clover (Seven Characters)

Clover was one of the Seven Character ponies first released in the UK and in Europe in 1993. She would go on to be reissued in 1994. She was part of a 'core cast' that featured in the My Little Pony Tales animated series in 1992. Although produced and aired in America, the ponies were not sold in North America at all - only in Europe. For this reason the set is also informally known as My Little Pony Tales ponies (or Tales Ponies). They are also sometimes called "Seven Tales" ponies, but this is incorrect.

Although Clover has pale pink hair, it is is usually the variety that does not easily fade. Faded examples have happened, but it does not seem as susceptible to fading as some other shades of pale pink.

Although the way that the pony name and rainbow was organised on the card differed depending on the card's language, the packaging art was the same in all countries, in garish pink with a new art style. The story for the ponies was universal between all seven. She was sold with a neon pink clover comb which was designed for her release, as well as a pinkish-purple ribbon. In 1994, she was sold with a sheet of stickers instead - the card advertising that they were to 'decorate' the pony with.

Clover's Character

Clover was a sweet-natured little pony, who was naturally clumsy and often lacked self-belief. She adored her older sister (in the animation, she was named Meadowlark, she was never produced) who was a prima ballerina. Clover also enjoyed dancing but was afraid her clumsiness meant she would never be able to achieve the same as her sister. She was also generally lucky - in one episode managing to win tickets to a concert ,which later kicked off chaos and competition.

The comic also focused on these traits - her dancing, her clumsiness, her adoration of her sister and her occasional self-doubts.
