Starglow's backcard depicts her as a pony with exceptional
hearing and also, determination. After making a deal with the
stars, she 'became' a Glowing Magic pony, indicating that she
didn't always glow in the dark. Her name seems to have always
been Starglow, however. It is not clear whether the 'friends'
she mentions are the other Glowing Magic ponies or not - and
whether hearing the stars sing is her unique ability, or
something shared by the rest of her set.
Starglow's musical attributes and interest also explains her
piano symbol. Given she was able to learn the tune in a night,
we can assume she had proper musical talent as well as a keen
sense of hearing! (Though I am wondering how she taught the
stars to fly...)
