Baby Blue Ribbon and the Adventures in Ponyland.

This game was never sold in the UK officially, and nor was the pony, though the game board did appear in the UK comic at some point, confusingly! There was far more to this concept than just an offer with a game attached, though. It was a cunning promotional ploy to encourage more pony buying from children across North America!

The game board came with Baby Blue Ribbon, along with a prize rosette. This was in around 1986, although she was probably also available during 1987, given the nature of the offer. During 1987, certain ponies sold in North America came with a "special offer inside" notice on the package, which indicated that they had a card inside for the Adventure game. Each pony was issued with their own card. Discussions have suggested there are upwards of forty different characters produced in this way, with cards for the game. That's a lot of ponies, and the cards these days are both rare and sought after.

In short, this was a game, but also a card collecting project within a pony collecting project.

I don't own any of the cards, unless one or two are lurking in pony packages that I haven't noticed, but they were small, rectangular pieces of card featuring the pony and a small message about that pony's activity.
