What goes in...must come out.

It took Hasbro a very long time to get there, but 1991 (1990 in North America) saw the introduction of baby ponies who could drink and wet themselves. Whether this needed to be a thing for My Little Pony has been a subject of debate ever since, but, judging by how common the ponies are on the second-hand market, it seems to have been a gimmick that sold.

Each baby came in a box with a collection of accessories, including a baby changer, a duck comb, a ribbon, a box with two special nappies and an oversized drink bottle which could be filled with water.

The nappies had a special quality whereby when they got wet, a heart pattern appeared. The baby ponies were fitted inside with a clear plastic tube that went from the mouth to just below the tail, so when water was fed into the mouth of the pony, it went through and out of the back. While this prevented water from getting into the whole pony, there have been cases of mould in the internal tube.

This set had their own unique poses due to the internal pipe mechanism, and there were no pegasus ponies in the set. In North America, Baby Rainflower and Baby Wellyboot were called Baby Cuddles and Baby Snookums (both recycled names.)
