Sea Shimmer in the United Kingdom
Sea Shimmer was part of the first set of Baby Sea Ponies, and she
was sold in many countries in the same format as that released in
the UK. She was made in the head turned pose, and came with a
purple and green turtle float. She also came with a teal whale
brush, pink ribbon and puffy sticker.

Sea Shimmer in Other Places
Sea Shimmer' original release was in North America in 1985-6.
She was subsequently sold in the Benelux countries on the same
card as in North America, but with a sticker on the top corner
in Dutch and French. She was also sold in France on translated
cards with the UK art style, and in Italy on Italian-specific
design cards. She was also sold in German speaking countries.
The accessories were consistent across these releases.
She was reissued in North America in the following year with a
pearly sheen, as one of the Pretty & Pearly Baby Sea Pony
set. She was not included in the UK set, but was sold in other
places. She has intentionally straight hair.
Sea Shimmer's Character
Sea Shimmer in the comics was a cheeky and naughty little
sea pony. In one story, King Neptune asked Masquerade to pretend
to be a sea monster, to scare a straying and obstinate Sea Shimmer
back to where she belonged.
Her backcard story (both in the UK and in North America) talked
about her finding a special friend in a mermaid. There was a
mermaid who frequently appeared in the comics, called Miranda, and
she often did play with the baby sea ponies.
