Fluffy and Fleecy

Fluffy and Fleecy were the only pegasus twins to be sold in the 1988 set, and they were sold in all regions in 1988. They did not use the same pose as Nibbles and Dibbles from the previous year, but introduced a new newborn pegasus pose, which would be the only pegasus pose used for newborns for the rest of the line. Both babies had the same pose, which was unusual for Newborn Twins. Their US names were Speckles and Bunkie, which frankly sound utterly disgusting. In the UK, they were Fleecy and Fluffy, which is at least cute!

Fluffy and Fleecy were one of the sets with reversed colours - Fluffy in purple with yellow-gold hair, and Fleecy in yellow with purple hair. They were sold with snail rocker accessories.

Their boxes were different on the back (to accommodate only three sets being sold), but the front seems to have been more or less the same as that in North America, with just the names changed.

Fleecy and Fluffy's Characters

Fluffy and Fleecy were the first set from the new release of twins to be introduced in the comic, in the story, Masquerade and the Merry Moonshee (the full story can be found in the comic section of this page). They were discovered by Nibbles and Dibbles hiding under a bush in Fantasy Forest. (For context, everything found in Fantasy Forest turned into leaves when departing the Forest, unless of course they were not leaves when they first entered!).

Both twins were quite proactive youngsters, utterly unfazed by being hidden under a bush, and prepared to leave for Ponyland immediately. They were also far more articulate than the first sets of twins had been in the earlier stories - with Fluffy announcing that her rocker was yellow. Their accessories were represented correctly in this comic.

How Masquerade explained leaving Lullabye Nursery with two newborn pegasi and returning with four is not recorded ;) I imagine she wasn't asked to babysit again...
