Lollipop (Aka Sweet Tooth in North America)

Lollipop was one of four earth ponies introduced in this set, and she had one of the year's new poses. She was sold on a pink bordered card in the UK, France and Germany, and a white card in North America. She was known by the name "Lollipop" in the UK, as the below image from the UK backcard shows. I guess it's pretty obvious why. There is no real difference between the pony sold here and the one as Sweet Tooth in North America - just branding.

She was sold on the same style of card (translated) in France and in German speaking countries, along with the same accessories. Her hair is intentionally curly.

While most Party Ponies are made in Hong Kong, there do exist some which are made in China. Most of the Chinese made Party Ponies are found in continental Europe, possibly suggesting production continued there later than it did here in the UK. With that said, Hong Kong versions of all these ponies are also not uncommon on the continent.

Lollipop's character

Ever since the start of the pony comic, there had been a candidate for Ponyland nurse. Originally Cotton Candy, and then Gusty held this role, but in 1988, Lollipop took over this responsibility, becoming 'Nurse Lollipop', and in particular in charge of the baby ponies in Lullabye Nursery.

Her North American backcard story was more conventional and referred to her coating the lollipops she was making with special flower dust to give each of her friends a different flavour. (Given the emphasis on lollipops in her symbol and her story, it's so weird that she wasn't just called Lollipop everywhere. Maybe it was harder to trademark in the States.)
