Princess Misty

Princess Misty was the only unicorn pony from the second set of Princess Ponies. She used an older style pose which was actually seldom used in subsequent years, and is one of only a handful of ponies to use it (although it was modified to accommodate her symbol).

Misty was sold with a glittery star pick, wand, comb and ribbon. She was sold in North America and definitely available in Benelux countries, via a boxed version in English which was nonetheless produced for that market. The box is the same as the US release version but has different amount of horseshoe points on the back and is marked with import labels.

The boxed pony shown below is the American  release.

Princess Misty's Character

Misty has probably the nicest of the stories for the Princess Pony set. She is on a quest to discover why she is a Princess Pony, suggesting she is both a deep thinker and perhaps lacking in self confidence. She has the persistence to follow her quest, however, ultimately discovering that the Princess Ponies are "the most magical" in Ponyland, inspiring her to go to grant special wishes.

This is an interesting take given that in the UK, Magic Star was cast as the most magical pony - and the other Princesses do not come over as having more magic than any other random pony from the same year. Perhaps this comes from their being sold with wands - although Misty's story credits the power to the medallion (secrets for happiness) and hair tinsel (good wishes).
