Coat 'n' Tails/Tux 'n' Tails

Although Hasbro had released two previous versions of the bride, Satin 'n' Lace, in North America, it was not until the early 1990s that she got an official 'groom' pony. Originally released under the name 'Coat 'n' Tails', he was later renamed 'Tux 'n' Tails', and this latter name is the one he is best known by in the collecting community. (Both are official, so both are of course correct). In 1991, he was offered for $6 and 2 horseshoe points (See below). Satin 'n' Lace was not part of this release.

Unlike his fancy bridal companion, Tux did not have a slew of accessories, but did come with a natty white bow-tie (unfortunately, I don't own it, so it is not pictured). He was sold in one of the shire horse moulds, and may well have been the last boy pony release to use a feathered hoof mould.

Tux was not sold in the UK at any point - not officially, anyway. He has been found over here, however, and this is because, at the end of the line, sundry leftover ponies from the American mail order program were jettisoned into the UK and sold through various clearance releases, often in basic packaging and at market stalls.
