Beddy Bye Eye Baby Lofty

Baby Lofty was sold as part of the Beddy Bye Eye Baby set in North America in 1985-6. The set was also sold in Benelux countries in translated boxes. She came with an array of accessories, in order for her new guardian to take good care of her. She is based on the adult So Soft pony Lofty, and was never sold in the UK.

Unlike the UK Play and Care Set box, the Beddy Bye Eye baby box made a direct connection between mother and baby pony. The set name was on the top flap, while the front of the box proudly announced that Lofty now had a baby. The box featured Baby Heart Throb and Baby Ribbon on the top flap and Baby Lofty and Baby Lickety Split on the bottom corners. All six characters featured on the back of the box.

A plush version of Baby Lofty was also released in North America, in a special set with a plush version of Adult Lofty. This set was not sold in the UK.


Brazil

Although there was never a Hong Kong release of Baby Lofty without the Beddy Bye eye feature, she was sold in this form in Brazil. This baby was produced under licence from Estrela and is difficult to find second hand.

Baby Lofty's character

Although she was never sold in the UK, Baby Lofty did appear in the UK comics. Her US backcard mentions her playing around in her hot air balloon, under her mother's watchful eye. Her comic persona also featured hot air balloons.
