Will the real Hula Hula please stand up...

Hula Hula was one of two earth pony characters in the Tropical Pony set. Confusingly, this pony was called Pina Colada in the North American release, while the name Hula Hula was given to the unicorn with the sailing boat symbol. As Hula Hula's symbol is hula-dancing palm trees, this is frankly odd. What Hasbro intended in the US naming is unclear, but it does feel like they got the names mixed up over there.

Here in the UK, Hula Hula was not so confused. My sister had the above pictured pony new from childhood and this was definitely her name. This can also be seen on the MOC pony below, which is correctly carded.

Hula Hula was sold with a blue fish comb in the UK. She had no ribbon. All releases of Hula Hula seem to have come with this comb.

While there are Hula Hulas with darker body tone and straighter hair, I don't own this version, so have no picture comparisons to add. It is interesting to note that she was usually illustrated with this darker body colour, as can be seen on the Mint on Card image above and the comic image below.

Hula Hula's Character

Hula Hula's chief characteristic was her dancing, specifically Hula dancing, and usually to the point that she inspired the palm trees to sway along with her. What this did for the ecology of the Tropical Isle is unclear, as is whether she is able to 'sway' other trees. Imagining falling coconuts could be a big risk in her vicinity, depending on these factors.
