Morning Glory was sold across two years in the UK,
as well as on a more global scale. She was a well-known flutter
pony and is common second hand (usually without wings). Her hair
is usually curly, and it is common to find loose ones in the
wild with messy and unmanageable hair. She is an outlier in the
first set, bucking the trend of pastel shades with her bright
neon mane and tail.
Although the basic pony and accessories were the same across
her releases, the UK release also had a round, puffy sticker
which seems to be unique to this country. She was sold in a box
that featured Lily and Rosedust on the front. Her story/poem was
featured on a side flap. The UK was the only country where the
box featured a poem rather than a story.
Morning Glory was re-released in the UK set (and in France, but
not in North America) in 1987. This is almost certainly because
she had a key role in My Little Pony, the Movie, which was
heavily promoted in the UK that year. She also featured on the
back of the Movie
Star Pony backcard.
Morning Glory was still available in France and in German
speaking countries at least in 1988. The box art was the same as
that seen in the 1987 UK release, only translated. The rainbow
was also updated to the new font, suggesting that the release
was in 1988 rather than 1987. This release came without a
sticker, probably because of the later issue.
"Flutter Ponies bring good luck,
In a very special way.
When rainclouds gather overhead,
Morning Glory will brighten the day!."
