Rosedust in the United Kingdom
Rosedust was sold across two years in the UK, as
well as on a more global scale. As arguably the most well-known
flutter pony, she is quite common second hand (usually without
wings). The Rosedust shown above has her original wings
undamaged and the ribbon shown in the image is original.
Rosedust's hair can fade from pale pink to white, and is curly.

Rosedust was basically
the same in her various releases, although her wing sockets
were probably updated some time later in 1986-7 along with the
rest of the set. The two boxes shown here are both from
the first set release, but the art style and layout are very
different. The American box features Honeysuckle and Morning
Glory doing yoga on the front, while the UK one shows Lily and
Rosedust...possibly having tea with butterflies.
The UK box also has a bigger name label at the bottom, and
states that the Flutter Ponies 'Bring Good Luck'.
The accessories between releases are the same, but the UK
release has a round puffy sticker which is visible in the
foreground. Rosedust's UK box is the same for 1987, but with
Wing Song replacing Lily on the front and the new characters
added to the back design.

Rosedust was still available in France and in German speaking
countries at least in 1988. The box art was the same as that
seen in the 1987 UK release, only translated. The rainbow was
also updated to the new font, suggesting that the release was
in 1988 rather than 1987. This release came without a sticker,
probably because of the later issue.
Some versions also exist with the non-fading bubblegum pink
hair. This tends to be a characteristic of later releases and
is seen on Princess Aquamarine in around 1988 as well,
suggesting this may be a continental European variation - but
this has not been confirmed.
Rosedust's Character
"Flutter Ponies bring good luck,
They like to sing and play,
If there's a worry on your mind,
Rosedust will send your cares away."
In the UK, flutter ponies were charged with being lucky, and
instead of a story, each flutter had a little poem on her box,
beginning with the line 'Flutter Ponies bring good luck'. The
flutter ponies lived in Flutter Valley and did often appear in
comic stories. Rosedust was defacto leader, a role she reprised in
the Movie as well, where she led the Flutter Ponies to defeat the
Smooze. Rosedust is also pictured on the back of the Movie Star
pony card because of this role.
In the animation she was somewhat regal and had a pink
head-feather that acted as a crown. In the comics she...was a bit
more low key and participated in at least one story from start to
finish in her pyjamas.
Rosedust is not a morning pony.
