Sunblossom

The oddly named Sunblossom was part of the Glittering Pony (or Glittering Sweetheart Sister Pony) set, released in North America in 1990 and the UK and Europe in 1991. The North American release had ponies on cards, but in the UK and in Europe, we continued with Sweetheart Sister Ponies in boxes, as per the previous year.

The Glittering Pony set all came with glittering star picks. They also had floral earrings, just like the previous set, and used the same slender poses.

Sunblossom's pale pink hair looks as though it should fade, but I've never seen one actually faded. It seems likely that she uses the non-fading version of fading pink in most releases.

Sunblossom's Character

Sunblossom's box story described her meeting and decorating some baby sunbeams with pretty ribbons to make them into proper glittering sunbeams. What this has to do with suns or blossoms is a bit obscure, but she did at least find them in a garden, so maybe that's the link.

Her image also appeared in a story that was actually about Bright Night in the comic, helping to muddle her persona more.
