So Soft Crumpet

Crumpet was sold in the third and final full set of So Soft ponies in 1987. She was released in North America, and also in Italy, although she does not seem to have been sold anywhere else in Europe. She did appear on the UK insert though, promoting the Costume Wear for the year (Pony Naut).

A baby version of Crumpet was also sold in 1987, with the purse.

Her name and symbol is apparently inspired by the quintessential concept of "British afternoon tea." Which, considering archaic British slang, is a little unfortunate, but never mind.

Crumpet's Character

As further evidence of Crumpet's apparently 'afternoon-tea'ish stereotype concept, her story also depicts her holding a 'tea party', featuring pony friends from various sets sold (in North America) during that year (Mimic and Bouquet). I find this story super-awkward because of how stilted and unrealistic the whole setting feels, but nothing quite beats Crumpet's amazing ability to make...croquet balls appear by wiggling her nose? And not just any croquet balls, but croquet balls made from roses (!?).

Yes, well, anyway. Apparently they all had a 'splendid' time, and that's what really matters...
