So Soft Hippity-Hop

Hippity-Hop was sold in two So Soft releases. Her first issue was in the second wave in 1986, and then she was re-issued again in 1987 in the final So Soft release. She was sold in North America, Italy, Australia and New Zealand in her various issues. She has fading pink hair, and this is often found bleached to white second hand.

Minor flocking variations exist between So Softs from the first/second wave and the third, with the final release having shorter flocking. This is the best way to identify which set a loose Hippity Hop originally came from (pony pictured above is most likely from 1986). She had the same accessories in both releases.

Hippity Hop was illustrated as a unicorn on her original release card; this was subsequently corrected to a pegasus during her 1987 release.

Hippity Hop's Character

Hippity Hop had no media appearances in the UK, so the only clue to her character is a very odd backcard story, in which she demonstrated one of the most specifically convenient magical abilities yet (and this is up against some pretty stiff competition). During a snowball fight, Hippity-Hop met a sad bunny rabbit who wanted to eat the clover under the snow (let's not debate whether clover grows underneath snow...). Hippity-Hop negotiated with the sun to melt the snow in that specific field, then magically made the clover grow tall for the rabbit by wiggling her nose. But not any old clover. RAINBOW coloured clover. But of course.
