As with earlier sets, each pony was flocked in a velvety fur
covering, although the flocking for this set tended to be
shorter than that used on earlier releases. Some of the
characters in this set are more difficult to find, especially
in good condition, and can be more sought after as a result.
The revolving nature of the So Soft collection is summed up
best by Hasbro's use of assortment numbers - the original
assortment was catalogued as 4762, the second release was
labelled 4762.01, and this final third set, 4762.02. Subtle
but effective.
Although the So Soft Ponies were not sold
in the UK, they did make an appearance on the 1987 and
1988 inserts, promoting ponywear and pony packs (small
sets of hats/bags/shoes). The main reason for this appears
to be that the American carded versions of these sets were
released here without any change to packaging, and thus
the same artwork was used to promote them in both places.

Oddly, Twilight is omitted from the
graphics, and Angel appears twice. Even more odd is
the inclusion of Hippity Hop wearing Galaxy Glamour,
despite Hasbro constantly repeating that pegasus
ponies cannot wear ponywear (they can, by the way,
depending on the outfit!). Twilight did appear on the
promotion for the Pony Packs, however - along with
Angel, who seems to have been Hasbro's favourite
poster child.
