Chief

Chief was introduced to the UK market in 1989, as one of the Big Brother Ponies. He had the same name and accessories in the UK as he did in North America, and was themed as a fire chief - although his character in the comics rarely ever had to put out fires!

Like all the Big Brother releases, Chief was sold with a hat and bandana (called a scarf, or a neck scarf in the UK) as well as a brush. The bandanas were the same style between ponies, but in different colours (each brother had a unique colour). The hats were specially designed to fit that pony's theme, and so were only sold with that specific character. Chief has a red fire hat, based probably on an American model since I have never seen anyone wear a hat like that in the UK.

As mentioned, Chief did not spend a lot of time using his fire hose to put out fires. Most of the time he was rescuing critters or helping out with other situations.

When he did use his hose, it was for a range of other things, from cleaning dirty baby ponies, creating rainbow hair rinse for desolate Brush & Grow Ponies, and even battling shark guards to rescue the Sand Shaper from his house.

 He became embroiled in Majesty's inventive punishment for the bad-tempered baby ponies in the Lands of Ups and Downs, being sent there to help them deal with Slitherwigs and Ladders. He drove a red truck, which was open-topped, and his services were often in demand, albeit for mundane tasks.
