Playtime Baby Brother Ponies

The Playtime Baby Brother Ponies were a set of six new characters released in North America in 1989. They developed the idea of the two baby boys from the previous year's Peekaboo Baby set into a whole set of six boys, complete with feathered hooves and turning heads. The head moulds for this set are different from the two Peekaboo babies, but the same body mould was used in this set. Each Playtime Baby Brother also had freckles across his nose. The set were sold with an array of accessories, including small striped neckscarves or 'bandanas' in the style of the Adventure Boy/Big Brother Ponies.

Two of the six ponies in this set were sold in a related set in the UK and continental Europe during 1990. These baby ponies were called the Playtime Babies, and amalgamated the Playtime Baby Brother ponies and four Fancy Pants Baby Ponies into a single release.

The North American set came in yellow boxes, while the two European ones came in orange boxes.

The Playtime Baby Brothers as a complete set were not sold in the UK, but there has been some unconfirmed anecdotal reports that one or two might have shown up in clearance stores or via some other method. I certainly found Baby Leaper here second hand, but I have never found them in enough quantities to suggest there was ever an actual UK release.

Whether the rest of the set had an import release in other places is unclear.
