Sunny Bunch


Sunny Bunch was one of six carousel style ponies sold in the Merry-go-Round set. She was included in the four characters sold in the UK and Europe in 1990 and 1991. Instead of a symbol, her carousel cape was moulded onto her body. Sunny Bunch's featured a floral edging. Her pose was modified to accommodate the cape. She was sold with a flower brush.

In France and Spain, Sunnybunch was sold in a bordered box in purple rather than in blue. Why..? I don't know. :)

Sunny Bunch's Character

Sunny Bunch was first introduced into the comic in the lengthy story about the Whispering Whirligig, inside of which she and her friends had been trapped. Following her arrival in Ponyland, she, like her companions, was often associated with fairground and fete themed stories or events. Sunny Bunch had an impressive array of magic tricks involving balloons and turning them into floral displays, usually with a swish of her tail. In one story, she and Caramel Crunch encountered the Colour Crone, and negotiated with her for a patch of blue for the sky to bring good weather to a fair.

(This story related to the old adage that if the sky has enough blue to make a sailor a pair of trousers then it will be fine weather - but taken very literally, given that the patch of blue was made into trousers by the Weather Witch and delivered to the sky to stop the rain...)
