Tassels
Tassels was one of six carousel style ponies sold in the
Merry-go-Round set. She was included in the four characters sold
in the UK and Europe in 1990 and 1991. Instead of a symbol, her
carousel cape was moulded onto her body. Tassels's cape was themed
in hearts and flowers. Her pose was modified to accommodate the
cape. She was sold with a flower brush.

In France and Spain, Tassels was sold in a bordered box in purple
rather than in blue. Why..? I don't know. :)
Tassels's Character
Tassels's character was probably the most tied to the
fairground of all of the Merry-go-Round Ponies. In comics and on
the backcard, she was a purveyer of magic capes, which were
obtainable by throwing balls into a basket. These capes had the
weird ability to turn hearts into flowers.
Tassels' story was interesting because it included Sparkler,
despite Sparkler not being sold in the UK. Although Sparkler is
a repeated name (the North American line repeated a lot of
names), the original Sparkler wasn't sold in the UK
either! So which Sparkler came to the fair? Who knows?

In seriousness, the main reason this happened is because the UK
ctory is the same as that in the North American release, where
Sparkler was included, and Hasbro did not change it (something
that happened in a few sets this year!. We hope the ball
throwing ponies took turns, else Tassels might have ended up
with bruises...
