Baby Drummer


Baby Paws was one of two boy ponies included in the Playtime Baby Set in the UK and Europe in 1990. He had previously been sold in North America as a Playtime Baby Brother Pony in 1989, along with five other baby boys - most of which did not have an official UK release. He was sold with a striped bandana/neckscarf and an array of accessories. These differed slightly from the accessories sold with the girls in the set, on account of the two releases being merged. Like all the baby brother ponies of this type, he had freckles across his nose.

His accessories were the same in his European and North American releases. Drummer is the only Playtime Baby I do not have mint in package -  if anyone has a boxed European version image they would like to donate, please get in touch!

Unlike the Fancy Pants babies, who had different places of manufacture depending where they were sold, all the Playtime Baby Brothers were made in China.

Baby Drummer's character

As might be expected, Baby Drummer's character revolved around him playing the drum. In one story, he helped participate in a Spring Parade, with the help of a dancing drum and Dainty's floral magic.

According to his backcard story, Baby Drummer had a drum that was too large, and Baby Paws helped him change it to the right size by clicking his heels. In the American backcard story, this role was played by Baby Leaper, who did not have a UK release. In the comics, however, the drum related size related magic stuff was pretty much Baby Drummer's own. If I remember correctly, he was able to change the size of his drum using his own magic.
