Baby Glider


Baby Glider was the unicorn baby from the Playtime Baby Set. She was also sold as one of the Fancy Pants Babies in North America, although there are some differences between the two releases. She was sold with an array of accessories, many of which are easily confused with other baby pony releases, and a hot pink mesh bow, which was unique to her.

The North American (Fancy Pants) release of Baby Glider was made in Thailand.

The two versions of Baby Glider are actually very similar. She is one of the ponies from the American set that has the different colour forelock. Variation is mostly in the body tone, the expression and the colouring on the symbol, although this too is quite subtle.

Baby Glider probably had the same accessories between releases in North America and in Europe, although I have not seen a boxed one to compare.


Baby Glider's character

Baby Glider's backcard story describes her going on an adventure with a butterfly, who then gives her the butterfly print panties as a memento of their day out. Leaving aside the question of how a butterfly obtained the panties, much less was able to carry them - the interesting thing about this story is that it mentions both Baby Glider and the butterfly 'flying'. This indicates that Baby Glider was a baby unicorn with the ability to fly. This ability did not appear in the pony comic, however.
