Although the Sweetberry Ponies were some of the first scented
ponies to be released in the States, they were one of the last
scented releases in Europe. Unlike most delayed sets, which were
sold one year after the North American issue, this set was sold
two years later, and essentially they seem to have been
recreated for the UK market. As mentioned on the main set page,
the 1988 set from North America were mostly made in Hong Kong.
The pony pictured at the top of the page was acquired
second-hand in the UK and is made in China.
As the only unicorn in the set, Blackberry Pie does not
seem to have been sold with a forelock in either region.

There are some slight colour variations between the two
releases - the Hong Kong one seems to be a warmer purple,
although this is also a pony that can discolour and so it can be
difficult to tell for sure. The yellow on the hair seems more
vivid on the Hong Kong one, but I have seen vividly yellow hair
on China made release ponies as well.
Blackberry Pie appeared in the comic a few times, and came over
as a friendly, gregarious type who was more than a little fond
of blackberries. I have not seen her UK card story, but her US
one suggests a particular friendship with Cherry Treats, who she
allows to taste some of her pie cooking despite the latter's
attempts to sneak a piece without permission. This relationship
also carries over into the comic, when Cherry Treats is roped
into helping her gather blackberries.
This story takes an odd turn when Blackberry Pie borrows
Mend-It's wheelbarrow to carry her pies in. It takes on a life
of her own, dragging her in the direction of the Enchanted Land.
I guess they really wanted food to go.
