Flowerburst


Flowerburst was one of four Sweetheart Sister characters introduced into the UK line in 1990. She had also been part of the North American set the previous year. She came with a flower brush, mesh ribbon and earring which all matched each other and the colour of her eyeshadow. She was sold in a pink box with darker pink borders. Her box was translated for various countries across Europe.

When checking back to the previous version of my site, I noted that I mentioned some discussion Stateside about a "European version" of Flowerburst. Now, there are batch differences and variations with some sets because of the delay or difference in year of release, but I've found no evidence that this one exists. In the early days of My Little Pony online collecting, there was a habit of ascribing everything a little bit different to being a "UK exclusive", and this seems like one of those cases. As far as I can ascertain, there is no variant of Flowerburst.


Flowerburst's Character

In the comics, it was she along with Dainty who first introduced the Sweetheart Sister Ponies to the readers. Even featuring on the front cover, she seems to have had some aspirations of grandeur, as she could magic a crown of pearls and flowers and play Queen just by touching her floral symbol. This origin story was a colour-in story in the comic, which is why the image below appears as lineart rather than full colour.
