D.J

D.J was one of two unicorn Dance & Prance characters released in the Dance & Prance pony set. The set was available in North America in 1989, and then was sold in the UK and Europe in the 1990 and 1991 catalogues. She is the only pony in the G1 line whose name is comprised of letters rather than full words.

D.J was sold with a range of dress up dance accessories, from a gold mesh ribbon to a fluffy boa, earrings and a clip with a hair extension. She appeared on the front of the European and UK Dance & Prance pony box.

D.J's Character

Despite her name, D.J did not do a lot of DJ-ing, at least not in the traditional sense. She had a magic radio from which she could play tunes, rather than a record deck (records were Twirler's thing) or anything in that line. She also sang, often along to the accompaniment provided by her radio.
