Sky Rocket in the United Kingdom.

Sky Rocket was first introduced in the UK in 1987, as part of the second full set of Twinkle Eye ponies. The card she came on is very difficult to find and no known MOC example of Sky Rocket on UK card survives. The card was white with a rainbow running through the centre. Sky Rocket was featured on the front of this card, as well as the back.

Sky Rocket in Europe

Sky Rocket was also part of the 1988 set sold in German speaking countries and France in around 1988. Mint on Card examples do exist from this release, and this helps us to approximate her accessories in the UK issue. Her accessories in the European and American releases seem to have been the same. She did not come with a sticker in 1988.

It is highly likely that Sky Rocket was available in the Benelux on cards with the American artwork, potentially translated.

Sky Rocket in the United States

Sky Rocket was introduced as an add-on pony to the original Twinkle Eye pony set, as one of three new characters. She was not reintroduced in 1987 as part of the final Twinkle Eye set.

Sky Rocket's Character

Sky Rocket's firework symbol made her a regular in the pony comic around November, when Guy Fawkes Night is in the UK. She probably had more summery connitations in the USA! Her American story describes her creating water-based fireworks by tossing a special pebble into the waterfall on a cloudy grey day. Her UK story, which also featured in the fact file, suggested she was more of a magpie pony, like Sparkler, who collected pretty stones from around the waterfall.

She was referred to as Skyrocket (all one word) in the Fact File.
