Sweetie was sold in 1986 as part of the first set of Twinkle
Eye ponies. She was one of two characters re-released in the 1987
set, which was a cut down amalgamation of two sets sold in North
America between 1986 and 1987. She was meant to have curly/wavy
hair. The pink streak in her mane can easily fade to white.

Well, yes and no. In North America, that was her name. But
it's a bit of a vague name and doesn't really mean anything
here. The UK name for this pony was Sweetie, because in the
UK, sweets, or sweeties are the words commonly used for
'candy'. Her symbol was gumdrops (or marshmallows, as they
sometimes get called here), so the name was much more
logical. Her name did not change with the 1987 re-release.
Let's be honest - Sweetie is cuter. :)
