Twist's backcard story features her learning to ice skate with
lessons from a mysterious character called "Skates".
Though we cannot be sure simply from her story that Skates was
intended to be a pony, the lack of other description suggests
that a child reading the text would know who was being
referenced. It is also not uncommon for ponies to feature in
other pony backcard stories. The most likely candidate for
'Skates' is 'Speedy',
a Twinkle Eye pony released around the same time as Twist in
North America. Although Speedy has skates for a symbol, they are
rollerskates, not ice skates. It is possible, however, that
Hasbro considered this to be an extension of her skills.
